This book is all about information. I never felt this book left out any facts I was looking for. It was the definitive book I got my information from (out of many, many books). It was a valuable resource for both my first AND second pregnancies. It can be a little text heavy at times, I certainly wouldn’t recommend sitting down and reading it like a novel. But when taken a topic at a time, this book is one you don’t want to be without during your pregnancy.

This book is extremely detailed in its presentation of material. Everything from medicines to general attitudes of doctors in this and other countries on certain subjects. This book explains c-sections in great medical detail so you have advanced knowledge of the procedure. I have not yet had a child, yet I still recommend this book to anyone who is interested in getting or is pregnant.

I recently bought this book and I found its information to be excellent. Of course I have the books everyone tells you to get, but they weren’t enough. The New Well Pregnancy Book is much more scientific. It explains bodily changes in easy to understand terms and without scaring new mothers to death! It talks about emotions, exercise, stress, etc. It goes in depth for all those questions that weren’t answered by other books. Best of all, it explains many ways that different bodies may respond.

  4. This was my bible when I was pregnant with my first baby. It satisfied my thirst for knowledge about what was happening to the baby and to my body. It goes into far more detail than most books on subjects like physiology of pregnancy and labor, nutrition, effects of stress, fetal development.

The one area that is a little lacking is the warm-fuzzies that books like The Pregnancy Book or The Birth Book by the Sears provides. Ideally, buy all three!

This was the best, by far, of all pregnancy books. While focusing on normal healthy pregnancy and the ability of a woman’s body to do this all succesfully, there was excellent and accurate information about things women worry about such as birth defects. I wound up with a C-section and the information about C-sections was EXTREAMLY accurate — down to the fact that breastfeeding on pain medication was easy — I was very relaxed, and that Daddy bonded really well with the C-section baby — I didn’t change a single diaper for a month.

Only two small drawbacks — this book isn’t updated as often as “What to Expect” and it’s not in a month by month format.
